I feel like Secret History was a bit less embarassing than anything by Dan Brown -- and frankly better written than anything by Eco, where I always lose track about three quarters of the way through. ("Wait, is he supposed to be the good priest?") I seem to remember enjoying The Eight, in a similar way.
The nice thing about the Geographer's Library is that the writing itself is just a lot better than most of the others: there's bits of really nice writing with quite elegant imagery without it going over the top into that Dickensian-pay-by-the-word feeling which just makes you want to skip pages or scream. ("It was a cold, chilling, freezing, icey, frigid, Arctic-like night.")
As kdcayuga points out, it's probably worth it for all of $0.03+shipping.
